Kairos Groups
During the week the church meets in various homes to build friendships, pray together and discuss the bible. We call these groups ‘Kairos Groups’. Kairos is an ancient Greek word meaning the "right or opportune moment". It is used in the bible to describe an undetermined period of time where something special happens. We believe The Oak Community Church is in its ‘Kairos time’.
Groups follow their own series of discussions and content relevant to those in each group. Everyone is encouraged to join a group and become a regular participant. We see these as a great way of getting to know people better than is always possible on a Sunday and spend some time together growing in all our understanding of the Bible and God’s plan for his Church.
YOUTH - Meeting at Cy and Sam's home - FRIDAYS
Our group aims to be youth orientated but not just for the youth!! It’s pretty relaxed and informal. Don’t expect big deep theological debate but real every day issues. So if this is for you, come along. We meet on Friday nights from 8.pm till 9.30 -10.00 pm. It is for both the young and the young at heart. Don’t forget there is a dog in the house – a bit bouncy but friendly!
PRAYER, PRAISE AND FELLOWSHIP (P.P.F!) - Meeting at David and Vivienne's home - WEDNESDAYS
This group does exactly what the title says! We start with praise & worship, lead into a time of prayer followed by an informal discussion around the theme of the month. We start at 8pm and take as long as it takes. It’s a great environment to get to know people better and get a good mid-week spiritual lift.
CHAT, DISCUSS, PRAY AND CAKE - Meeting at Trevor and Karen's home - WEDNESDAYS
In this group we talk. We talk a lot! We take time to get to know each other, pray for whats happening in and around us. We discuss the sermon and anything vaguely related. We want to dig below the surface and find out what the bible really says about the issues. Starts at 8pm and stop the serious stuff around 9:30. Then the tea, coffee and cake starts!
